| Pacnet has come a long way over its past 10 years, in playing a role in giving back to the community. In Pacnet, we believe in playing an active role in contributing our best, no matter how small it may seem to be, to the community. The aim is to help bring about some positive impact to the less privileged in the community, thereby enriching their quality of life.
In Singapore, we are especially active in supporting causes for the less privileged children. Children are the pillar of the society and every child deserves an equal chance in gaining access to education and protection and to be able to help our children getting their footsteps in the society and giving them a better future is what we could do… minimally.
Pacnet Supports Grace Haven
Pacnet was involved in areas such as fund-raising, organizing activities and outings for the children at Grace Haven and other voluntary activities such as fixing faults in their personal computers. Pacnet’s staff volunteered time and resources out of own will to organize company-wide fund-raising activities, dinners and karaoke sessions for the children.
Fund-raising for Club Rainbow
Pacnet brings its spirit of volunteerism to Club Rainbow with a series of company-wide fund-raising activities too. Besides encouraging its staff to contribute financially through the traditional ways, other activities to raise funds include sales of second-hand items amongst staff, donating through purchase of ice cream at special rates and sales of charity items and flowers.
Tsunami Relief
During the period of Tsunami, Pacnet staff proactively sought out channels to contribute and to help in any ways possible. There were company wide fund-raising, donations of cash and clothing to Red Cross. Volunteers from Pacnet also participate in packing items to be shipped to the Tsunami-hit areas.
Internet Access for Charity Organizations
To put Pacnet’s core business into good cause, we have also provided unlimited Internet access to various charity organizations including the Canossian School for the Hearing Impaired, Handicaps Welfare Association, Society Against Family Violence, Spastic Children’s Association of Singapore, Canossaville Children’s Home, Disabled People’s Association, Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped, Autism Resource Center (Singapore) and Down Syndrome Association (Singapore).
Community Chest
To enable easy contributions to the society, Pacnet’s management has also voluntarily implement policies to encourage staff’s donations through monthly deduction through staff’s salary contributing to Community Chest. To encourage staff participation, Pacnet donates $1 for each dollar that staff contributes to Community Chest. This forms a positive environment that encourages spirit of giving.
Employee Community Involvement
Our employees are a big part of how we give back to the community. Pacnet staff never fails to self-organize fund-raising activities and others that give to the less privileged. Pacnet regularly invites friends from the Singapore Association for Visually Handicapped to Pacnet for foot reflexology and head/shoulder massage where Pacnet staff would engage their service at a fee. This provides them a means to earn a livelihood.
