How to install Pacnet Anti-Spyware onto your Computer System
Introduction

  • This document will guide you through the process of installing the Pacnet Anti-Spyware application, for which you’ve subscribed.
  • It will also provide troubleshooting tips for most of the common problems encountered during software installation

Requirements

  • Microsoft Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP
  • Connectivity to the Internet
  • Basic knowledge on how to download and install an application onto your computer system
  • A few minutes of your time

Before We Begin

  • Have a copy of the Activation Email handy. It contains the License Keycode to be used during the installation.

Preparing the PC

  • Make sure that any other Anti-Spyware software has been uninstalled from your system. This can be done via the ‘Add or Remove Programs’ link in your Windows operating system’s ‘Control Panel’.
  • Disable any other running applications
  • Download the latest version of our software here

Installation Steps

  1. Double click the file that was downloaded in order to launch the install application.

  2. At the first screen, read through the entire ‘License Agreement’ and select the radio button for ‘I accept the terms in the License Agreement’ if you are agreeable with the terms and conditions.

  3. Click the ‘Next’ button, to continue.

  4. At the welcome screen, click on ‘Next’ to continue.

  5. Here, you have the option of selecting the Installation folder, where the software will be installed. If the destination shown is what you want, click ‘Next’ to continue with the Installation. If not, select a different location for it to be installed. (Pacnet recommends that you accept the default).

  6. The installer now has all the information it needs to begin copying files to the system. Click ‘Install’ to continue with the installation.

  7. While the files are being copied to the system, the installation bar will show you the progress of installation. This process should not take longer than a few minutes, depending on the speed of your system.

    • If you see the error message shown below, select abort in order to cancel the installation process. Check the ‘Add or Remove Programs’ applet in the system Control Panel to verify that all previous versions of Pacnet Anti-Spyware have been uninstalled.
    • After you have done the checks, reboot the system (important!) and begin the install again from Step 1.

  8. After the files have been copied, the installer will ask you to reboot your system. Select the ‘Reboot now’ radio button and click ‘Finish’ to reboot (important!)

  9. After your computer restarts, this window will appear. To begin using the Anti-Spyware software, insert your keycode (provided in your Activation email) into the space provided and click on ‘OK’.

  10. If this screen is shown, there was an error in your keycode. Select ‘Try again’ to return to the previous screen and enter your keycode once again. Your code is case sensitive. Enter it exactly as shown in the Activation email.

If you have previously Installed and registered Pacnet Anti-Spyware on another machine, you will have to either transfer the license or obtain a new license. Each keycode allows you to use 1 copy of the software on 1 computer system only. If you are transferring the license to a new system, select ‘Transfer existing license’ and click ‘OK’ to proceed. Once this transfer is processed, the previous copy will no longer be licensed and you will need to purchase a new Pacnet Anti-Spyware license in order to continue using it.

  11. You now have Pacnet Anti-Spyware installed, running and active on your computer system.

      1. This is the startup screen for Pacnet Anti-Spyware. You may close this window. Ad-watch will continue to run in the background and continuously monitor for intrusion from Spywares.

      1. In your system tray, you will notice a new icon to signify that Pacnet Anti-Spyware is currently running.

  12. If an event, which seems malicious, is detected, Ad-watch will prompt you to take the appropriate action. You may allow if you approve and are aware of the action taken or block if you do not approve.

Please note that Pacnet Anti-Spyware may not be able to remove every type of spyware/adware/malware that can attack the client system. As such, Pacnet shall not be liable for any loss or damage including business interruption or loss of data as a result of any such attacks.

Lavasoft, the developers of the software, will continue to periodically release updates to Pacnet Anti-Spyware which will allow it to prevent newer variations of attacks.
